What Are The Different Types of Fittings?
There are a number of pipe fittings in plumbing systems for different purposes as well as functions. However, A pipe fitting is usually used to join multiple files of different sizes or the same size. This helps to regulate the flow of the liquid. However, this pipe fitting is made up of various materials such as iron, copper, PVC, brass, etc.
Let us see the different kinds of fittings.
Elbow pipe fittings
These are used to change the direction of flow between the two types. indicates when the pipes are having the same diameter normal bike fittings are used or else reducer elbows are used. They usually have female threads while we can fix them with the help of socket welding and butt welding also. Stainless steel socket weld fittings include stainless steel socket weld elbow with different degrees, stainless steel socket weld cap, and more.
Reducer pipe fittings
Reducer is a type of pipe fitting component that helps reduce the size of the flow from smaller to larger by reducing the pipe size. There are two types of producers available out of which are the concentric reducer and another one is the eccentric reducer. A concentric reducer has a cone shape along with decreasing around the pipe that results in the gathering of air along with cavitation. Additionally, an eccentric reducer has 1 parallel age to the connecting pipe due to which air gathering is not possible. Hence there is no issue of cavitation.
Tee type pipe fitting
Usually, this type of fitting is a factor of a clamping system that has a T-shape. It has one inlet and two outlets where the two outlets are arranged at 90° with respect to the inlet. This type of fittings is also used to merge liquid flow from the two inlets to the one outlet. Also, these fittings are available in various sizes as well as materials. Suppose that three sides of the t fitting are having the same size then they are called an equal tee. Else they are termed as an unequal tee.
Cross-type fittings
This type of fittings have 4 openings in four different directions and are joined when there are 4 pipes meeting at the same point full stop cross-type fittings produce more stress on the pipe with the change in temperature. These fittings can generate higher pressure because they are situated at the center of the connection points. We can usually see these cross fittings in fire sprinkler systems.
Coupling
Coupling is basically used to join the pipes having the same diameter and stands to be very useful when the pipe is broken or is undergoing leakage. We can see that there are two different types of couplings available out of which first is the compression coupling and the other one is the slip coupling. If we compare then the slip coupling is very easy to install since it contains only 2 pipes arranged in one another. In this part, the inner pipe can slide up to a specific distance, and hence we can fix a long length pipe with the help of slip coupling.
Butt weld pipe fittings are also available in elbow fittings, reducer fittings, tee-type fittings and more.
